Glittering Cranberries – The perfect Christmas Food Accessory!
Sugared cranberries make gorgeous decorations on any baked goods during the holidays! They sparkle as light reflects in the sugar crystals, and really add a sense of Christmas with their bright red variations.
It is really simple to make sugared cranberries, and they taste wonderfully sweet and sour as they pop in your mouth!
All you need is equal parts of cranberries, white sugar and water, plus extra sugar for the coating.
- Boil the water and add the sugar, stirring until it has completely dissolved. Add the cranberries to the syrup once it has cooled down slightly, or the cranberries will pop.
- Cover the bowl and leave in the fridge over night, allowing the sugar to really infuse the berries, leaving them sweet to the taste.
- The next day you drain the cranberries, and toss them in the sugar. I recommend leaving them to dry on a small rack, so that they don’t stick to the surface or loose their coating on one side.
