Peppernuts – A yummy take on gingerbread
We call them “Peppernøtter” which means peppernuts. They contain pepper and they’re shaped like nuts, so why not.
You are gonna love these little golden nuggets! They are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and very easy to make.
The best thing about making peppernuts is that they’re made from that last pile of gingerbread dough that never seems to get any smaller. When everyone’s had enough of rolling dough and making little men; peppernuts to the rescue!
You’ll find the gingerbread recipe here: https://thankheavens.com.au/2012/12/17/the-very-best-gingerbread-cookies/
Simply roll gingerbread dough into a long sausage, about two cm thick. Cut it into three cm long pieces and roll each piece into a little ball.
If you like almonds they make for a tasty twist:
Boil water and soak however many almonds you need in the hot water for about 5 minutes. Pick them out of the water (leave the rest in so they don’t dry out) and pop the peel off of them. Stick an almond (pointy end down) into each peppernut, pop the tray into a preheated oven at 160 c for about 13 minutes. Let them cool off on a cooling rack straight away. Don’t leave them in too long if you wanna keep the soft center.
You may decorate the peppernuts with some icing after they’ve cooled down.
Super easy and terribly yum!

I am such a novice in the blogging world, so much so that I’m at a stage where I light up with every ‘like’ and jump when the phone pings. To be honest, I hardly know what ‘ping’ means yet.. I’m very green and treading lightly. Imagine then my excitement when i read your comment, especially coming from a blogger i much appreciate and admire. You are such a talented writer and as the Aussies would say, I’m ‘stoked’ that you’ve even noticed me. Big thanks, it really means a lot to a freshy like myself.
Now I’m gonna roll up my sleeves and try to figure out how this blog award system works 🙂
